Bulletin for July 22, 2018
Current Sermon / Series
John 5:1-9
1-3 Soon another Feast came around and Jesus was back in Jerusalem. Near the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem there was a pool, in Hebrew called Bethesda, with five alcoves. Hundreds of sick people—blind, crippled, paralyzed—were in these alcoves. 5-6 One man had been an invalid there for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him stretched out by the pool and knew how long he had been there, he said, “Do you want to get well?”
7 The sick man said, “Sir, when the water is stirred, I don’t have anybody to put me in the pool. By the time I get there, somebody else is already in.”
8-9 Jesus said, “Get up, take your bedroll, start walking.” The man was healed on the spot. He picked up his bedroll and walked off. That day happened to be the Sabbath.

This week’s worship.
Family Month Continues!
This Sunday, we will have lunch in the lobby immediately after church. Then we will head over to BOXCAR arcade in downtown Raleigh for some old-school video games, air hockey, foosball, and more!
Kids Ministry Training • Meet Lindsay
On Sunday (July 22nd) after worship, we will host a training event for all Kids Ministry volunteers. It will also be a GREAT chance for you to meet our new Children’s Ministry Leader, Lindsay Stevenson! Lunch will be provided for everyone (and there will be activities for the rest of the family, since it is family month).
Also, as we prepare for the 2018-19 school year, there are still a few children’s ministry volunteers slots that need to be filled. If you’d like to serve our kids, email Lindsay here.
Men’s Fall Retreat 2018
We have the Chestnut Ridge Retreat Center (Efland, NC) booked for our first ever Men’s Retreat. It includes two-nights accommodations, Friday dinner, 3 meals on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast before we head back to church together for worship. Projected cost will be around $150 (including a $50 deposit / reservation). Financial help available for anyone who needs it. Alex Kiener is the point person for this event. Feel free to message him directly with your questions / comments / ideas. Reserve your spot today!
MOJOAA Performing Arts Group • Next Sunday (7/29)
Next Sunday (7/29) we will be joined by MOJOAAPerforming Arts, a local non-profit theater company dedicated to telling the stories of the African American community. It is going to be a very unique and creative day of worship that will continue to spur us on to racial healing and justice.
Guatemala 2018 • August 19-25
If you’ve never heard of our global ministries partner, Lemonade International, take a moment today to watch their introductory video on our web site. But I need to warn you: it is powerful and moving.
Our 2018 Mission Team is gearing up for their first team meeting, but there is still time and space for another team member or two to join us. The trip is from August 19-25. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Curtis (this year’s team leader). He would love to hear from you.
