Mission is central to everything we do. Discipleship is incomplete if it does not compel action. Worship is hollow if it does not move people towards compassion and justice. Teaching is empty if it does not challenge people to bring healing to a broken world. (see Amos 5:21-24; Isaiah 58; Micah 6:6-8; James 1:27).

Ekklesia’s global mission partner is Lemonade International – working with local leaders to help facilitate community development programs for the people of La Limonada in Guatemala City.

La Limonada is essentially a ravine in the heart of Guatemala City, and is home to 60,000+ people. La Limonada is considered the largest urban slum in Central America, and is comprised of the poorest and most dangerous neighborhoods in Guatemala City.

While there is much darkness in La Limonada, there is also much beauty for those who have eyes to see! And the work of Lemonade International is breath-taking — providing schools, child sponsorship programs, small business incubators, emergency relief, and so much more. In the Book of Acts we read that Jesus commissioned his followers to go as his witnesses to “the ends of the earth”—to places like La Limonada where most people refuse to go.
