Advent – Week Two – Already and Not Yet
Who Is This Love Amazing - Lyrics
Who is this Love Amazing
Who is this love amazing?
Came reaching down to save me
Making all things new
His goodness overwhelms me
With mercies new each morning
Now I can’t help but sing
You are worthy
King of glory, King of glory
Forever worthy
King of glory, King of glory
Open up, open up
you ancient gates
Open up, open up
for the King is coming
Who is this King of glory
The Lord so strong and mighty
He’s always faithful to forgive
His favor goes before me
His perfect love surrounds me
Now I can’t help but sing
You are worthy
King of glory, King of glory
Forever worthy
King of glory, King of glory
Open up, open up
you ancient gates
Open up, open up
for the King is coming
You are worthy
King of glory, King of glory
Forever worthy
King of glory, King of glory
Glorious King - Lyrics
Glorious King
Glorious King born in a manger
Under the light of a star
Praise Him and sing! Honor our Savior
Jesus our Glorious King
We rejoice this Christmas Day
You have opened heaven’s gates
And the promise has finally come
Our Messiah and God’s Holy Son
Our Glorious King
Glorious King born in a manger
Under the light of a star
Praise Him and sing! Honor our Savior
Jesus our Glorious King
You have shown us how to love
You redeemed us by Your blood
Let our lives be the gift that we bring
Jesus You are the reason we sing
Our Glorious King
Glorious King born in a manger
Under the light of a star
Praise Him and sing! Honor our Savior
Jesus our Glorious King
Glory to the King
Glory to the King
Hallelujah Hallelujah
Glory to the King
Glory to the King
Glory to the King
Hallelujah Hallelujah
Glory to the King
Glorious King born in a manger
Under the light of a star
Praise Him and sing! Honor our Savior
Jesus our Glorious King
Glorious King born in a manger
Under the light of a star
Praise Him and sing! Honor our Savior
Jesus our Glorious King
Jesus our Glorious King
Hallelujah Hallelujah
Jesus our Glorious King
God With Us - Lyrics
God With Us
Oh You’ve come – to bring peace
To be love – to be nearer to us
Oh You’ve come – to bring life
To be light – to shine brighter in us
Oh Emmanuel – God with us
Our Deliverer – You are Savior
In Your presence we find our strength
Over everything – Our redemption
God with us – You are God with us
Oh You’ve come – to be hope
To this world – for Your honor and name
Oh You’ve come – to take sin
To bear shame – and to conquer the grave
Oh Emmanuel – God with us
Our Deliverer – You are Savior
In Your presence we find our strength
Over everything – Our redemption
God with us – You are God with us
You are here
You are holy
We are standing
In Your glory
(repeat 3x)
You are here
You are holy
We are standing
In Your glory, Lord
Our Deliverer – You are Savior
In Your presence we find our strength
Over everything – Our redemption
God with us
Our Deliverer – You are Savior
In Your presence we find our strength
Over everything – Our redemption
God with us
Oh God with us
You are God with us
Come Thou Long Expected Jesus - Lyrics
Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
Come Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free
From our fears and sins release us
Let us find our rest in Thee
Israel’s strength and consolation
Hope of all the earth Thou art
Dear desire of every nation
Joy of every longing heart
Born Thy people to deliver
Born a child and yet a King
Born to reign in us forever
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring
By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone
By Thine all sufficient merit
Raise us to Thy glorious throne
Come Thou long expected One, make
all things new O Christ the Son
Come Thou long expected One, make
all things new O Christ the Son
(repeat)
Come Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free
Advent - Week Two - Already and Not Yet
3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. 8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
Luke 3:1-6
1 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene— 2 during the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. 3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.
5 Every valley shall be filled in,
every mountain and hill made low.
The crooked roads shall become straight,
the rough ways smooth.
6 And all people will see God’s salvation.’”

Reader: The word of the Lord.
Ekklesia: Thanks be to God.
Matthew 6:24
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Luke 12:15
“Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
Matthew 19:21
21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Already and Not Yet Kingdom
Advent is a time of WAITING!
Matthew 11:2-15
2 When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples 3 to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
4 Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: 5 The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. 6 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”
7 As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 8 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces. 9 Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is the one about whom it is written:
“‘I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way before you.’
11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and the forceful are taking hold of it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear.
“For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business.”
– T.S. Eliot
John 3:30:
“He must become greater; I must become less.”
O Come O Come Emmanuel - Lyrics
O Come O Come Emmanuel
O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel
O come, Thou Dayspring
come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
And drive away the shades of night
And pierce the clouds
and bring us light
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel
O come, Thou Key of David, come
And open wide our heavenly home
Make safe the way that leads on high
And close the path to misery
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel
