Feasts – Part Two – Food Fight

This is Amazing Grace - Lyrics

This is Amazing Grace

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory
The King above all kings

Who shakes the whole earth
with holy thunder
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory
The King above all kings

This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross

You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
(whoa) Jesus I sing for
All that You’ve done for me

Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory
The King of Glory

Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory
The King above all kings

This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross

You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
(whoa) Jesus I sing for
All that You’ve done for me

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy, worthy, worthy

This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross

You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
(whoa) Jesus I sing for
All that You’ve done for me

Wonder - Lyrics

Wonder

Have you ever seen the wonder
In the glimmer of first sight
As the eyes begin to open
And the blindness meets the light
If you have so say

I see the world in light
I see the world in wonder
I see the world in life
Bursting in living color
I see the world Your way
And I’m walking in the light

Have you ever seen the wonder
In the air of second life
Having come out of the waters
With the old one left behind
If you have so say

I see the world in light
I see the world in wonder
I see the world in life
Bursting in living color
I see the world Your way
And I’m walking in the light

(Ooh I say) I see the world in grace
I see the world in gospel
I see the world Your way
And I’m walking in the light

I’m walking in the wonder
You’re the wonder in the wild
Turning wilderness to wonder

(Ooh I say) I see the world in love
I see the world in freedom
I see the Jesus way
You’re the wonder in the wild

I see the world Your way
And I’m not afraid to follow
I see the world Your way
And I’m not ashamed to say so
I see the Jesus way
And I’m walking in the light

I see the world in light
I see the world in wonder
I see the world in life
Bursting in living color
I see the world Your way
And I’m walking in the light

Ooh, I say, I see the world in grace
I see the world in gospel
I see the world Your way
And I’m walking in the light
I’m walking in the wonder
You’re the wonder in the wild
Turning wilderness to wonder

(Ooh I say) I see the world in love
I see the world in freedom
I see the Jesus way
You’re the wonder in the wild

Turning wilderness to wonder
You’re the wonder in the wild
Turning wilderness to wonder

Lift Your Voice - Lyrics

Lift Your Voice

Blessed are you weary sinner
The one whose hope is gone
Blessed are all of the broken
God can hear your song

Lift your voice
Lift your voice
Lift your voice
Lift your voice

We are blind to injustice
We don’t see the part we play
We’ve grown numb with our privilege
We pass by pain every day

Open our eyes
Open our eyes
Open our eyes
Open our eyes

God sends rain on the righteous
The common, the rich, and the poor
Trinity dancin’ through darkness
God’s love gives hope evermore

Lift your voice
Lift your voice
Lift your voice
Lift your voice

Welcome all to the table
Every man, woman, and child
Come and feast with thanksgiving
We come and reconcile

Open our hearts
Open our hearts
Open our hearts
Open our hearts

Open our hearts
Open our hearts
Open our hearts
Open our hearts

I Will Follow - Lyrics

I Will Follow

When the sea is calm and all is right
When I feel Your favor flood my life
Even in the good I’ll follow You
Even in the good I’ll follow You

When the boat is tossed upon the waves
When I wonder if You’ll keep me safe
Even in the storms I’ll follow You
Even in the storms I’ll follow You

I believe everything
that You say You are
I believe and I have seen
Your unchanging heart

In the good things
and in the hardest part
I believe and I will follow You
I believe and I will follow You

When I see the wicked prospering
When I feel I have no voice to sing
Even in the want I’ll follow You
Even in the want I’ll follow You

I believe everything
that You say You are
I believe and I have seen
Your unchanging heart

In the good things
and in the hardest part
I believe and I will follow You
I believe and I will follow You

When I find myself so far from home
And You lead me somewhere
that I don’t wanna go
Even in my death I’ll follow You
Even in my death I’ll follow You

When I come to end this race I’ve run
And I receive the prize that Christ has won
I will be with You in paradise
Oh I will be with You in paradise

I believe everything
that You say You are
I believe and I have seen
Your unchanging heart

In the good things
and in the hardest part
I believe and I will follow You
I believe and I will follow You

I believe everything
that You say You are
I believe and I have seen
Your unchanging heart

In the good things
and in the hardest part
I believe and I will follow You
I believe and I will follow You

Feasts - Part Two - Food Fight (Sermon notes and images)
2 Kings 6:8-23
Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. After conferring with his officers, he said, “I will set up my camp in such and such a place.” 9 The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.” 10 So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places.
11 This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, “Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?” 12 “None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.”
13 “Go, find out where he is,” the king ordered, “so I can send men and capture him.” The report came back: “He is in Dothan.” 14 Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city. 15 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. 16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 18 As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Strike this army with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked.
19 Elisha told them, “This is not the road and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man you are looking for.” And he led them to Samaria. 20 After they entered the city, Elisha said, “Lord, open the eyes of these men so they can see.” Then the Lord opened their eyes and they looked, and there they were, inside Samaria.
21 When the king of Israel saw them, he asked Elisha, “Shall I kill them, my father? Shall I kill them?” 22 “Do not kill them,” he answered. “Would you kill those you have captured with your own sword or bow? Set food and water before them so that they may eat and drink and then go back to their master.” 23 So he prepared a great feast for them, and after they had finished eating and drinking, he sent them away, and they returned to their master. So the bands from Aram stopped raiding Israel’s territory.

Leader: The word of the Lord.
Everyone: Thanks be to God.

“May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership. 9 May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow. 10 May his children be wandering beggars; may they be driven from their ruined homes. 11 May a creditor seize all he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor. 12 May no one extend kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children.” – Psalm 109:8-12

PART THE HEAVENS

Verse 1
We are waiting / We are watching
We are hoping / Lord, please come
We are hungry / We are longing
We are open / Lord, please come

Chorus
Part the heavens and come down in Your mercy / Radiate your love divine / Come release this heart of mine / Show the splendor of Your face / Shine Your glory in this place / Part the heavens and come down in Your mercy.

“Part your heavens, Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke. 6 Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy; shoot your arrows and rout them.” – Psalm 144:5-6.

“Set food and water before them so that they may eat and drink and then go back to their master.” 23 So he prepared a great feast for them, and after they had finished eating and drinking, he sent them away, and they returned to their master. So the bands from Aram stopped raiding Israel’s territory.” – 2 Kings 6:22-23

To gather joyfully
is indeed a serious affair,
for feasting and all enjoyment
gratefully taken are,
at their heart,
acts of war.

At the Table - Lyrics

At the Table

I went the ways of wayward winds
In a world of trouble and sin
Walked a long and crooked mile
Behind a million rank and file
Forgot where I came from
Somewhere back when I was young
I was a good man’s child

‘Cause I lost some nameless things
My innocence flew away from me
She had to hide her face from my desire
To embrace forbidden fire
But at night I dream
She’s singing over me
Oh, oh, my child

Come on home, home to me
And I will hold you in my arms
And joyful be

There will always, always be
A place for you at my table
Return to me

Wondering where I might begin
Hear a voice upon the wind
She’s singing faint but singing true
“Son, there ain’t nothing you can do
But listen close and follow me
I’ll take you where you’re meant to be
Just don’t lose faith”

So I put my hand upon the plow
Wipe the sweat up from my brow
Plant the good seed along the way
As I look forward to the day
When at last I see
My Father run to me
Singing “oh, my child”

Come on home, home to me
And I will hold you in my arms
And joyful be

There will always, always be
A place for you at my table
Return to me

Come on home, home to me
And I will hold you in my arms
And joyful be

There will always, always be
A place for you at my table
A place for you at my table
A place for you at my table
Return to me

Like waters rise – flood this place
We reach for You
We cling to You oh Lord

How majestic is Your name
in all the Earth

Oh oh oh our Lord
Oh oh oh our Lord
How majestic is Your name
in all the Earth

Oh Your name is a light in the darkness
Oh Your name is the word of truth
Oh Your name – Oh Your name
(repeat x3)

Oh oh oh our Lord
How majestic is Your name
in all the Earth

Oh oh oh our Lord
Oh oh oh our Lord
How majestic is Your name
in all the Earth

We behold the breaking dawn
The light that shines over everyone
We look to You
We long for You oh Lord

We behold the rising sun
The earth awakes Your hope has come
We look to You
We long for You oh Lord
