Sin: The Series – Part One – Sin Is Bigger Than “sins”
This is Amazing Grace - Lyrics
This is Amazing Grace
Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory
The King above all kings
Who shakes the whole earth
with holy thunder
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory
The King above all kings
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
(whoa) Jesus I sing for
All that You’ve done for me
Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory
The King of Glory
Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory
The King above all kings
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
(whoa) Jesus I sing for
All that You’ve done for me
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy, worthy, worthy
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
(whoa) Jesus I sing for
All that You’ve done for me
Fierce - Lyrics
Fierce
Before I call
Before I ever cry
You answer me
From where the thunder hides
I can’t outrun
This heart I’m tethered to
When every step
I collide with You
Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce
You cannot fail
The only thing I’ve found
Is through it all
You never let me down
You don’t hold back
Relentless in pursuit
At every turn
I come face to face with You
Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce
(You surround me)
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost when
You have called me found
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost when
You have called me found
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost when
You have called me found
Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce
Your love is fierce
Your love is fierce
Great Are You Lord - Lyrics
Great Are You Lord
You give life, You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore
Every heart that is broken
Great are You, Lord
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
You give life, You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore
Every heart that is broken
Great are You, Lord
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
All the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
“Great are You, Lord”
All the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
“Great are You, Lord”
All the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
“Great are You, Lord”
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
Build My Life - Lyrics
Build My Life
Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath
we could ever breathe
We live for you
Jesus the name above every other name
Jesus the only one who could save
Worthy of every breath
we could ever breathe
We live for you – Oh we live for you
Holy there is no one like you
There is none beside you
Open up my eyes in wonder and
Show me who you are and
Fill me with your heart and
Lead me in Your love to those around me
Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath
we could ever breathe
We live for you
Jesus the name above every other name
Jesus the only one who could save
Worthy of every breath
we could ever breathe
We live for you – Oh we live for you
Holy there is no one like you
There is none beside you
Open up my eyes in wonder and
Show me who you are and
Fill me with your heart and
Lead me in Your love to those around me
Holy there is no one like you
There is none beside you
Open up my eyes in wonder and
Show me who you are and
Fill me with your heart and
Lead me in Your love to those around me
And I will build my life upon your
love it is a firm foundation
And I will put my trust in you
alone and I will not be shaken
(Repeat)
Holy there is no one like you
There is none beside you
Open up my eyes in wonder and
Show me who you are and
Fill me with your heart and
Lead me in Your love to those around me
Sin: The Series - Part One - Sin Is Bigger Than "sins"
15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die.”…
3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other wild animal that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God say, ‘You shall not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden; 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, nor shall you touch it, or you shall die.’” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not die; 5 for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves…
22 Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a sword flaming and turning to guard the way to the tree of life.
4:1 Now the man knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have produced a man with the help of the Lord.” 2 Next she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a tiller of the ground. 3 In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground, 4 and Abel for his part brought of the firstlings of his flock, their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, 5 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. 6 The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is lurking at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
8 Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let us go out to the field.” And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him. 9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 And the Lord said, “What have you done? Listen; your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground! 11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you till the ground, it will no longer yield to you its strength; you will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”
13 Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear! 14 Today you have driven me away from the soil, and I shall be hidden from your face; I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and anyone who meets me may kill me.” 15 Then the Lord said to him, “Not so! Whoever kills Cain will suffer a sevenfold vengeance.” And the Lord put a mark on Cain, so that no one who came upon him would kill him. 16 Then Cain went away from the presence of the Lord, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

Ekklesia: Thanks be to God.
John 15:12-13:
12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
(1) Sin is bigger than sins.
(2) Sin is BOTH / AND (not either / or)
(3) Sin is hopeful!!!
“We like to speak casually about “sibling rivalry,” as though it were some kind of by-product of growing up, a bit of competitiveness and selfishness of children who have been spoiled, who haven’t yet grown into a generous social nature. But it is too all-absorbing and relentless to be an aberration, it expresses the heart of the creature: the desire to stand out, to be the one in creation. When you combine natural narcissism with the basic need for self-esteem, you create a creature who has to feel himself an object of primary value: first in the universe, representing in himself all of life.” — Ernest Becker The Denial of Death
Chatta’ah (חַטָּאָה)- “to sin, to err, to trespass, to incur guilt.”
– “to miss the mark.”
Genesis 4:6-7:
“The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is lurking at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
“Sin is lurking (crouching) at your door; it’s desire is for you, but you must master it.”
Questions most asked by youth:
(1) Is ______ a sin?
(2) How far is too far?
Sin is bigger than “sins.”
1 John 4:
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them… There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
(1) God is Love.
(2) the opposite of Love is not hate, but FEAR!
John 1:29:
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
1 John 4:18:
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear!
Called Me Higher - Lyrics
Called Me Higher
I could just sit
I could just sit and
wait for all Your goodness
hope to feel your presence
And I could just stay
I could just stay right where I am
and hope to feel You
hope to feel something again
And I could hold on
I could hold on to who I am
and never let You
change me from the inside
And I could be safe oh
I could be safe here in Your arms
and never leave home
Never let these walls down
But You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
Where You lead me
Where You lead me Lord
And I could hold on
I could hold on to who I am
and never let You
change me from the inside
And I could be safe oh
I could be safe here in Your arms
and never leave home
Never let these walls down
But You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
Where You lead me
Where You lead me Lord
And I will be Yours oh
I will be Yours for all my life
And I will be Yours oh
I will be Yours for all my life
And I will be Yours oh
I will be Yours for all my life
so let Your mercy
Oh and I will be Yours Lord
I will be Yours for all my life
so let Your mercy
light the path before me ‘cause
But You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
Where You lead me
Where You lead me Lord
The Father's House - Lyrics
The Father’s House
Sometimes on this journey
I get lost in my mistakes
What looks to me like weakness
Is a canvas for your strength
And my story isn’t over
My story’s just begun
And failure won’t define me
‘Cause that’s what my Father does
Yeah, failure won’t define me
‘Cause that’s what my Father does
Ooh, just lay your burdens down
Ooh, here in the Father’s house
Check your shame at the door
‘Cause it ain’t welcome anymore
Ooh, you’re in the Father’s house
An arrival’s not the end game
The journey’s where you are
You never wanted perfect
You just wanted my heart
And the story isn’t over
If the story isn’t good
And failure’s never final
When the Father’s in the room
And failure’s never final
When the Father’s in the room
Ooh, lay your burdens down
Ooh, here in the Father’s house
Check your shame at the door
‘Cause it ain’t welcome anymore
Ooh, you’re in the Father’s house
Prodigals come home
The helpless find hope
Love is on the move
When the Father’s in the room
Prison doors fling wide
The dead come to life
Love is on the move
When the Father’s in the room
Miracles take place
The cynical find faith
And love is breaking through
When the Father’s in the room
The Jericho walls are quaking
Strongholds now are shaking
Love is breaking through
When the Father’s in the room
I said, love is breaking through
When the Father’s in the room
Ooh, lay your burdens down
Ooh, here in the Father’s house
Check your shame at the door
‘Cause it ain’t welcome anymore
Ooh, you’re in the Father’s house
Ooh, lay your burdens down
Ooh, here in the Father’s house
Check your shame at the door
‘Cause it ain’t welcome anymore
Ooh, you’re in the Father’s house
