Epiphany Week Seven – The Way

Our God Saves - Lyrics

Our God Saves

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord we come

We’re gathered together
to lift up Your Name
to call on our Savior
To fall on Your grace

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord we come

We’re gathered together
to lift up Your Name
to call on our Savior
To fall on Your grace

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As Your saints bow down
As Your people sing

We will rise with You
lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that

Our God saves – Our God saves
There is hope – In Your name

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord we come

We’re gathered together
to lift up Your Name
to call on our Savior
To fall on Your grace

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As Your saints bow down
As Your people sing

We will rise with You
lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that

Our God saves – Our God saves
There is hope – In Your name
Mourning turns – to songs of praise
Our God saves – Our God saves

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As Your saints bow down
As Your people sing

We will rise with You
lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that
Yes the world will see that

Our God saves – Our God saves
There is hope – In Your name
Mourning turns – to songs of praise
Our God saves – Our God saves

I Surrender - Lyrics

I Surrender

The riches of this world will fade
The treasures of our God remain
Here I empty myself
to owe this world nothing
and find everything in You

The riches of this world will fade
The treasures of our God remain
Here I empty myself to owe this world
Nothing and find everything in You

I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You

Take my life, a sacrifice
In You alone I’m satisfied
Here I empty myself
to owe this world nothing
and find everything in You
Oh – everything in You

I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You
I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You

Not my will, but Yours be done
Not my strength, but Yours alone
Nothing else, but You oh Lord
I find everything in You

Not my will, but Yours be done
Not my strength, but Yours alone
Nothing else, but You oh Lord
I find everything in You

I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You
I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You

Heavenly Things - Lyrics

Heavenly Things

Over and under
You’re far and Your wide
I’m only human
but not in Your eyes

You made me for heaven
I’m a heavenly thing
So help me remember
how You look at me

You’re over the sky
and You’re under the deep
You’re sweetly in love
with Your heavenly things
You’re over Your head
You’re head over heels in love — with me

Over and under
You’re far and Your wide
I’m only human
but not in Your eyes

You made me for heaven
I’m a heavenly thing
So help me remember
how You look at me

You’re over the sky
and You’re under the deep
You’re sweetly in love
with Your heavenly things
You’re over Your head
You’re head over heels in love

You’re over the sky
and You’re under the deep
You’re sweetly in love
with Your heavenly things
You’re over Your head
You’re head over heels in love — with me

You made me for heaven
I am a heavenly thing
(repeat x4)

You’re over the sky
and You’re under the deep
You’re sweetly in love
with Your heavenly things
You’re over Your head
You’re head over heels in love — with me

Old Testament Readings

Genesis 45:3-11, 15

3 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still living?” But his brothers were not able to answer him, because they were terrified at his presence.

4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! 5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. 6 For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

8 “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt. 9 Now hurry back to my father and say to him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don’t delay. 10 You shall live in the region of Goshen and be near me—you, your children and grandchildren, your flocks and herds, and all you have. 11 I will provide for you there, because five years of famine are still to come. Otherwise you and your household and all who belong to you will become destitute.’

15 And he kissed all his brothers and wept over them. Afterward his brothers talked with him.

Psalm 37:1-11, 39-40

1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11 But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy peace and prosperity….

39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

House of God Forever - Lyrics

House of God Forever

God is my shepherd
I won’t be wanting
I won’t be wanting
He makes me rest
In fields of green
with quiet streams

Even though I walk
Through the valley
of death and dying
I will not fear
Cause you are with me
You are with me

Your shepherd’s staff
Comforts me
You are my feast
In the presence of enemies

Surely goodness
Will follow me
Follow me
In the house of God forever

God is my shepherd
I won’t be wanting
I won’t be wanting
He makes me rest
In fields of green
with quiet streams

Even though I walk
Through the valley
of death and dying
I will not fear
Cause you are with me
You are with me

Your shepherd’s staff
Comforts me
You are my feast
In the presence of enemies

Surely goodness
Will follow me
Follow me
In the house of God forever

In the house of God forever
In the house of God forever

New Testament Readings

1 Corinthians 15:35-38, 42-50

35 But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?” 36 How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body….

42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.

If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. 46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.

50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

Luke 6:27-38

27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Epiphany Week Seven - The Way
“If we get together, they cannot cancel us all. Okay? They won’t. And this will be contrary to a lot of our beliefs because—I’d love not to have to participate in cancel culture. I’d love that it didn’t exist. But as long as it does, folks, we better be playing the same game. Okay? We’ve been playing T-ball for half a century while they’re playing hardball and cheating. Right? We’ve turned the other cheek, and I understand, sort of, the biblical reference—I understand the mentality—but it’s gotten us nothing. Okay? It’s gotten us nothing while we’ve ceded ground in every major institution in our country.”
– Donald Trump, Jr.

Washington Post / University of Maryland poll:
34% of Americans believe that violence against the government is sometimes justified.
CBS News-YouGov Poll:
62% of Americans now expect the losing party after elections to become violent.

Beautiful Things - Lyrics

Beautiful Things

All this pain
I wonder if I’ll ever find my way
I wonder if my life could
really change at all

All this earth
Could all that is lost ever be found?
Could a garden come out
from this ground, at all?

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

All around,
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is
being found in you

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

Oh, you make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

You make me new
You are making me new
You make me new
You are making me new
(repeat)
