The Kingdom is Yours – Part Five
Blessed Are The Merciful

Rising Sun - Lyrics

Rising Sun

Praise Him all you sinners
Sing oh sing you weary
Oh praise Him all you children of God

We lift high His glory
Shown throughout our stories
We praise Him as the children of God

Our Great Redeemer – Glorious Savior
Your name is higher than the rising sun
Light of the morning – You shine forever
Your name is higher than the rising sun
Your name is higher than the rising sun

Praise His name forever
Speak it loud and clear now
Oh praise Him all you children of God

Hallelujah name above all
Simply to speak Your name is praise
Hallelujah now and always
Forever we lift your name in praise
Hallelujah Our God You reign
Simply to speak Your name is praise

Our Great Redeemer – Glorious Savior
Your name is higher than the rising sun
Light of the morning – You shine forever
Your name is higher than the rising sun
Your name is higher than the rising sun

I Surrender - Lyrics

I Surrender

The riches of this world will fade
The treasures of our God remain
Here I empty myself
to owe this world nothing
and find everything in You

The riches of this world will fade
The treasures of our God remain
Here I empty myself to owe this world
Nothing and find everything in You

I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You

Take my life, a sacrifice
In You alone I’m satisfied
Here I empty myself
to owe this world nothing
and find everything in You
Oh – everything in You

I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You
I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You

Not my will, but Yours be done
Not my strength, but Yours alone
Nothing else, but You oh Lord
I find everything in You

Not my will, but Yours be done
Not my strength, but Yours alone
Nothing else, but You oh Lord
I find everything in You

I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You
I surrender, I surrender
I surrender all to You

Fierce - Lyrics

Fierce

Before I call
Before I ever cry
You answer me
From where the thunder hides

I can’t outrun
This heart I’m tethered to
When every step
I collide with You

Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce

Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce

You cannot fail
The only thing I’ve found
Is through it all
You never let me down

You don’t hold back
Relentless in pursuit
At every turn
I come face to face with You

Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce

Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce

(You surround me)
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost when
You have called me found

You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost when
You have called me found

You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost when
You have called me found

Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce

Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce
Your love is fierce
Your love is fierce

It Is Well - Lyrics

It Is Well

When peace like a river
attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot
thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul

It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

My sin, oh, the bliss
of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross
and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul

It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

And Lord haste the day
when my faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll
The trump shall resound
and the Lord shall descend
Even so it is well with my soul

It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

Scripture Reading

Matthew 5:1-12

Matthew 5:1-12. Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them. He said:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Sermon Slides: Images and Quotes

If every little baby that was ever born anywhere in the world had a tape recorder hung about its neck, and if this tape recorder only recorded the moral judgments with which this child as he [or she] grew bound other [people], the moral precepts might be much lower than the biblical law, but they would still be moral judgments. Eventually each person comes to that great moment when he stands before God as judge. Suppose, then, that God simply touched the tape recorder button and each man [and woman] heard played out in their own words all those statements by which [they] had bound other [people] in moral judgment. [They] could hear it going on for years—thousands and thousands of moral judgments made against other [people], not aesthetic judgments, but moral judgments. Then God would simply say to the [person], [even if he or she] had never heard the Bible, now where do you stand in the light of your own moral judgments? The Bible points out… that every voice would be stilled. All would have to acknowledge that they have deliberately done those things which they knew to be wrong. Nobody could deny it. -Francis Schaeffer

Matthew 7: 1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Luke 6: 37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Romans 5:8: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Matthew 18:21-35: 21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. 23 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. 26 “At this the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ 27 The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. 28 “But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded. 29 “His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’ 30 “But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened. 32 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ 34 In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. 35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” Colossians 3:13: 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. In Ephesians 4:32: 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
APOLUO (greek) – “to forgive” “to cancel a debt” “to set free” “to untie/loosen from”
Ever Be - Lyrics

Ever Be

Your love is devoted
like a ring of solid gold
Like a vow that is tested
like a covenant of old

And Your love is enduring
through the winter rain
And beyond the horizon
with mercy for today

Faithful You have been
and faithful you will be
You pledge yourself to me
and it’s why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips
ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
ever be on my lips
(repeat)

You Father the orphan
Your kindness makes us whole
And you shoulder our weakness
And your strength becomes our own

Now you’re making me like you
Clothing me in white
Bringing beauty from ashes
For You will have Your bride

Free of all her guilt
and rid of all her shame
And known by her true name
and it’s why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips
ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
ever be on my lips
(repeat)

You will be praised
You will be praised
With angels and saints
We sing worthy are You Lord
(repeat 4x)

(And it’s why I sing)
Your praise will ever be on my lips
ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
ever be on my lips
(repeat)

Your Love Never Fails - Lyrics

Your Love Never Fails

Nothing can separate
Even if I ran away
Your love never fails
I know I still make mistakes
But You have new mercies for me everyday
Your love never fails

You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night
But joy comes in the morning

And when the oceans rage
I don’t have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
Your love never fails

The wind is strong and the water’s deep
I’m not alone in these open seas
‘Cause Your love never fails
The chasm was far too wide
I never thought I’d reach the other side
‘Cause Your love never fails

You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night
But joy comes in the morning

And when the oceans rage
I don’t have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
Your love never fails

You make all things
work together for my good
(repeat x4)

You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night
But joy comes in the morning

And when the oceans rage
I don’t have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
Your love never fails
