Current Sermon / Series

Luke 5:27-32

27 Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, 28 and Levi got up, left everything and followed him. 29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. 30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Mark 1:16-20

As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon [Peter] and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea— for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fish for people.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him. As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets. Immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and followed him.

Matthew 28:16-20

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

      Super Bowl Party 2020!!

Join us Sunday, February 2nd for our annual Super Bowl Party. Whether you like football or not, this is a great excuse to get together, eat some good food, laugh at dumb commercials, and build community.

We’ve used many formats over the years – multiple “regional” parties, a Super Bowl Party and an Anti-Super Bowl Party. This year we are keeping it simple and just doing one big one. The Bazers (3809 Sparrow Pond Ln., Raleigh) have volunteered to host and they have lots of room for all our niches – youth hanging out upstairs, football fans watching the game in one room, anti-football people chatting about Netflix shows in another room… It’s the best of all worlds.

The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bring a dish to share.

      Community Brunch 1/26 After Worship

On Sunday, January 26th, we will be discussing the importance of Community in our Great Omission (Refresh 2020) series. So we are going to put our money where our mouth is … actually, that’s just a figure of speech. We’re going to put food where our mouth is, which is way better!

Following worship, our youth ministry will lead us in a fun Family Brunch. Our teens will be cooking pancakes and waffles (start praying for them now!), and youth families will be providing some fun dishes to complete the brunch. Be sure to stay around after church to eat some good food, meet some new people, and/or laugh and connect with some old people.

      Children’s Ministry Volunteers Needed

Starting this month, we have a few vacant volunteer slots in Ekklesia Kids. Like all our Sunday morning ministry teams, the commitment is once a month. If you are interested, email our fearless kids leader Lindsay Stevenson. She’d be delighted to hear from you.

Want to share last month’s Advent sermon series?

We received a lot of very positive feedback on last month’s sermon series, The Women of Advent. If you would like to listen to it again or share it with a friend, you can. The series is posted here.
