Bulletin for Sunday, July 10

Current Series

Matthew 14:13–21

13 [Jesus] withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”

16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Leader: The Word of the Lord.
Everyone: Thanks be to God.

      Post-Church Cook-Out Today!! (7/10)

In the spirit of today’s gospel story (the feeding of the 5000), we’re hosting a neighborhood cook-out for our friends around Athens Drive right after church. In addition to good food, we’ll also have corn-hole, disc-golf, a bounce house for the littlest ones, and much more! (We’ll also use this as an opportunity to let people know about our annual block-party / school-supply giveaway coming up in August.)

      Higher Ground Summer Camp Pics!!

Last week July 3–9, many of our teens, preteens, and leaders have been in Townsend, TN for our annual Higher Ground Summer Camp. Here are just a few photos from the week!! You may see them this morning in church … tired and exhausted and smelly! View all the pictures here.

      Pool Party NEXT Sunday (7/17)

Our summer-Sundays continue next weekend with a pool party! Bring your towel, swimsuit, floaties and sunscreen as we will all head over to the Lake Johnson Pool after church. And yes – we’re having a picnic too, so you don’t need to worry about food.

Suggestion: Come to church wearing your swimsuits under a t-shirt and shorts.

Note for parents: A lifeguard will be on duty, but we encourage all moms and dads to be attentive to their little ones.
