Jeremiah 17:5-10; Psalm 1; 1 Corinthians 15:12-20; Luke 6:17-26. Throughout scripture we find many warnings against placing our trust in mere human strength and wisdom. Instead, we are called to trust in the Lord. The historic Black Church provides us with a powerful model on resisting human wisdom — a model we could learn from today.
