Song Story:
“Another Leaf” was written in early 2025, inspired by two images that kept tugging at me. One was a piece of art in our lobby called A Place at the Table — God’s open hand, seeds resting in the palm, birds gathered close. The other was a line from James Baldwin: “If the concept of God has any use, it is to make us larger, freer, and more loving. If God cannot do that, it’s time to get rid of him.”
This song grew out of a longing for a faith spacious enough to widen our tables rather than guard them — and a hope that it might resonate with communities seeking a more generous, welcoming vision of God.

Verse 1
How quickly I embrace
My illusions of You
I draw the circle small
‘round what I think is true
But now I hear the places
Where I’ve missed Your sacred tune
When You said You loved the world
You meant it through and through
Chorus 1
So let’s pull out another leaf
‘cause this table is expanding
The feast is growing wide
Far beyond our understanding
The welcome here runs deep
Past what we’ve known before
So let’s pull out another leaf
‘cause there’s always room for more
Bridge 1
Time to lay these small gods down
Their borders cannot hold You
Let mercy break through hardened ground
And let my heart behold You

Song Story:
I wrote “What’s Mine to Do” during my sabbatical in the summer of 2025, in a season when the world felt especially heavy and broken. It came from the ache of not knowing where to begin — and learning to pray a simpler, more honest prayer: “Help me to see what’s mine to do.”
My hope is that this song gives voice to that prayer for others as well, offering space for individuals and churches to seek faithfulness without carrying the weight of fixing everything.

Your Kingdom is here
But not in full view
It feels like the darkness
Keeps breaking through
I cannot mend what’s falling apart
I’m overwhelmed I don’t know where to start
Chorus 1
Help me to see what’s mine to do
I am not God no I am not You
Not the ocean but just my shore
Not the whole earth but just my door
Help me to see what’s mine to do
Verse 2
Your Kingdom is here
Still waiting to bloom
I want to believe
But my hope has left the room
I hear your voice it’s calling my name
I’ll bring what I have
My fear and trembling faith
Chorus 2
Help me to see what’s mine to do
I am not God no I am not You
I’m not the fire but just one spark
I’m not the story just one small part
Help me to see what’s mine to do
Bridge
You are working in the silence
Present in the ache
You are faithful in the chaos
Love that will not break
You are mercy without ending
Justice rolling through
I will trust help me trust
And leave the rest to You
Ending
Help me to see what’s mine to do
I am not God no I am not You
Not the ocean but just my shore
Not the whole earth but just my door
