Bulletin for March 12, 2017

Current Series

Matthew 6:5-15

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.’

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

      Cathy Alieksaites • Dec 21, 1967 – Mar 6, 2017

Cathleen “Cathy” Alieksaites, 49, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, at her residence. Cathy served on our Hospitality team and was dearly loved at the Raleigh Rescue Mission where she worked with the women and children. The funeral will be held Monday, March 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Pius the Tenth Catholic Church, 2210 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. Read more here.

A local memorial service will also take place at the RRM this upcoming week for residents and others who can’t make the trip to Greensboro. We will post details on our Facebook Page when they are known.

      Basketball Today after church

Today is our once-a-month post-Church Basketball game. If you like to play ball and are interested in building some community, join us and get in the game! The church provides some proteins bars, waters, etc. to get everyone through to lunch.

      Ordination Service Today

For independent / non-denominational churches, the responsibility of ordination and bestowing credentials fall upon the leadership board. At the close of worship today, we will have a special ordination moment for Pastor CJ and Pastor Curtis led by our board of elders. We hope you’ll join us!

      Men’s Spring Camp Out (4/12 – 4/13)

Join us overnight April 12-13 for good food, camp fire, great people, beautiful surroundings and hopefully some GREAT spring weather! Don’t have camping gear? No worries! We’ve got you covered. DADS – please bring your sons. This is a father-son friendly event. This location is particularly fishermen friendly. And so, if you have bass or catfishing gear, please bring it! Questions? Post any questions on our men’s FB event page.

      LENT Giving Jars

As part of Lent each year, we encourage everyone to undertake two fasts: one that frees up time (perhaps a favorite TV show?), and another that frees up resources (maybe soda or alcohol or eating out). The goal is to repurpose the time and resources to expand our hearts toward God and others. With the resources we free up, we will be taking a special offering on Easter to go toward our school supply giveaway / block party event in August! Be sure to pick up a giving jar to take home with you and start collecting your saved resources!

Need to talk to someone about finances?

As part of the sermon on Sunday, February 5, two names were mentioned of people who’d be willing to sit down with you to help talk about finances. If you’re in need of some assistance, please reach out to Joel Harris or Shane Bazer. They would love to meet you.
